Such is the case here with “Reflections” all the songs
were created “in the moment” live in the studio.
Mark Holland (Native American Flutes) founder/leader of Autumn’s Child
and Cory Edwards (Piano) take the listener on a musical journey - with sensitivity to dynamics and tonal color and overall listening to each other -the musicians weave a kaleidoscope of sound.
Somewhat similar in style - this cd is a bit reminiscent of R. Carlos Nakai’s
work with Peter Kater or something from David Lanz and Gary Stroutsos.
The interplay between these musicians is beyond words.
A fan who heard rough mixes of this album said - “you may have a hard
time convincing people that this is all improvised music.”
The fact is - it all is ... the only parts that were added were the Cello and
Double Bass lines. Which brings us to acknowledging the special guest on
this project, Jim Feist. Jim is classically trained on eastern Indian tabla..
Jim Feist has mastered the tabla - and tabla adds great beauty not only
rhythmically but also tonally to these compositions. All tabla parts were
also composed spontaneously along with all flute and piano parts in complete
takes. Peaceful music for troubled times.
